Calendar claims it’s October, but blooms and bluebird skies suggest otherwise. Sometimes gardening is a science. If you get the inputs right, the outputs are predictable. Other times gardening is more of an art. After all, dancing with nature means embracing mysterious forces not always as predictable as one might imagine. And so it is that the science and art of gardening weave their wonderful way at Rosslyn, today offering breathtaking days of autumn.

Somewhat more predictable but always artistic is fall foliage.

And with fall foliage, the healthiest and happiest harvest of all: friendship. This tender moment between Pam and Carley is a joyful flashback five years.

[So] much to appreciate. These two, for example. And the beautiful bond they share. Carley and Pam, you make our world a better place. (Source: Carley & Pam)
Aside from the dahlia days photographs at the beginning of the post all of the other images and excerpts offer glimpses into earlier iterations of this October 6th.

But bountiful harvest and garden humor aren’t the analgesic conclusion to this dahlia days dispatch. Instead I offer you sunup and a siesta!

Whether your dahlia days afford you a moment of hammocking, I hope that you’re taking full advantage of these early days of October. Soon you’ll look back and wish you had!
