Hope you’ve enjoyed your peak summer week as much as we have. In celebration of edible midsummer joys today’s post highlights a few current favorites, from haricots verts to artichokes.

Per Robert Burns, “The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men“, and ’tis true, ’tis true. Especially when July is jumping with joy and sunny days are somersaulting into sweet, memorable nights. While even my most carefully crafted plans can run amuck due to unforeseen circumstances or events, I’m going to roll with it.

Life’s plenty unpredictable, and even the most meticulous preparations can’t control all outcomes. Besides, the weekly garden-to-table agenda I laid out a few weeks ago was born in slower days when vegetables and fruit were only just beginning to offer themselves up to hungry diners (and snackers). So today I revise my weekly (See “Garden Update 250714“) wish into an intermittent update on Rosslyn’s edible landscape.

And while I’m at it, I’m giving myself permission to photo-essay these updates since that’s really the most effective storytelling in this case. I think. I may be wrong… If so, don’t hesitate to coach me in the right direction. Thanks!

So today we’ll start with the backlog from July 15, 2025 followed by another update last night. The first set includes a more comprehensive vision other than meal that came together, and last night, well, not so much. It was late. We were tired. The garden fed us. But the particulars differed for each of us. Jumbo salad base for Susan with sautéed tofu, and a jumbo salad for me with lobster salad.

What do you think?
